Why organizations should be careful with using Generative AI-related technologies?

Generative AI (ChatGPT, DALL·E 2, etc.) is currently creating a buzz in the tech world with its amazing ability to generate new content such as text and images in mere seconds. However, with great power comes great responsibility — and legal challenges.

As highlighted in this attached HBR article, there are significant legal issues related to using generative AI, especially at a large scale. Some of these legal challenges include violating intellectual property rights, copyright infringement, ownership of AI-generated works, using unlicensed content in training data, and more. A recent case involving Getty Images suing ‘Stable AI’ for unlawfully scraping millions of images from its website and training its software on that data is an example of the type of legal challenge that can arise. Several other cases are currently being litigated against generative AI platforms.
